Hi mate, I just opened the link to the motorcycle wrecker and the first bike they have on the web page is the one they sold you.  I can see why you are pissed. Looks good from the photo they supply.

What about we all email them and tell them we won't use them in the future.  Might help Iain get his money back!

Ok update , talked to a staff member this morning he was the guy I spoke to when I bought the bike . He said he checked the left side of the bike and didn't see any damage the foot peg was up at an angle that was all . (?) I have been offered a mx360 frame told him they are not the same or even close , then offered some parts . I told him I most probably have more Yamaha parts than they do . The next offer was they have a guy that can fix the frame if I send it up to them I asked if they where paying freight , no was the answer . (approx $590 from Gold Coast to Tassie so add another $1180 in frieght ) The owner of the company is in China for the next 2 weeks Im looking forward to hearing what he is going to offer . Pete that is a very generous offer , but still looking at at least $500 from Tassie up to Syd and return If its the only way Ill talk to you later , thank you again for your offer . Iain

As Slakewell said, if he's a licensed used dealer you should go to them.
If not, I don't know, spread the dirty word.

Sorry Iain, I didn't realise you were all the way down there. I'm pretty sure though that we could get the forum network involved and get it up to me and back to you for minimal cost.

Pete.

Iain, let me know when the frame is ready to come back as I have to do a quick trip from Ballarat sooner or later to pick up a bike I have at my Son's place in Hobart. I would have room to bring your frame over on the boat if you can get it somewhere near Ballarat or Melbourne.

I think sometimes when you’re buying and selling it’s easy to overlook things, but that’s just downright rude.
Looks a lot like it was dropped into a dumpster at some stage in its life.
I would be wary of letting them “fix” it. If they didn’t notice the damage in the first place then I would have to question to what standard they would fix it, especially if you’re paying the freight.

Is that an engine mount right behind the bent section?
The easy fix would be if you can salvage that frame section from another model. DT perhaps?

Your frame is welcome to a stopover here if it needs it on its return journey.

Hopefully this was an honest mistake as the bike was listed as 'Wrecking'.  Which may have given some indication as to there was something majorly wrong with it.   But obviously someone has forgotten to cross their 't's and dot there 'i's and unfortunately you have ended up with the result.  How they come to the party will reflect what they are about.

This sort of raises the whole anger of buying bikes off ebay.  The tell tale wet look to disguise the condition of the bike.  Over the years I have learnt to ask the right questions but you still get surprises when the bike finally arrives, no matter how thourough I am.

I brought a PE400 on ebay a few years ago.  I watched the questions from potential biggers and read the description, but nowhere had the seller indicated if the bike ran.  After I asked that, the seller indicated there was no piston in the engine.

Another bike I brought last year, a YZ465, looked great from the photos but when I received it, one of the crankcases at the front had been severely damaged and welded back up.  The generally condition of the bike was very poor and required a complete rebuild. Chopped out wheel bearings, swingarm bearings you name it.  Even the barrel had been damaged badly at some point and rewelded.  None of that was disclosed by the seller.

Maybe next time I'll ask a forum member in the area to check a bike out for me.  Seems to me we have a big family able to do that.
