Not that easy Watto I will have to modify the end of the crank shaft to make a PVL work.

Thanks Lozza, but no good.

Has anyone ever fitted a PVL to a 1983 CR500 husky 4 speed, sounds like the 4 speed has a different crank to the 430.

Lozza... I have found the PVL to be much better than a 30 year old Motoplat.... as with any ignition system..good earths make the world of difference.. ;)..we run an earth wire from the backing plate up to the coil mount...no problems..

What's your main problem with PVL Loz?    I've got PVL on a few of my bikes and they've worked faultlessly for years.

BTW Lozza...Can you send me another schematic diagram for the ignition I got from you? I can't find the one you gave me.

I'll dig it up for you firko. Several issues with a P_L first is the cost, they were a bargain 10yrs ago but are way over priced compared to what else is on the market. Next we have the lack of adjustability you get what they give you, which is a part of the amount of retard they can build into the ignition due to the lack of extra windings they can fit into the coils. DC/DC now is so simple, cheap, easy and so so much better. Your ignition pumps out a constant 35Mj at 13,000 rpm power to the plug is the key to a good ignition system, I'm putting the same ignition on a Maico 620 in place of the P_L

I'm trying to GIVE the Motoplats away, I don't want them nor will I ever use them

You're wasting your time on here I'm sorry to say Henry.  :'(
I'd be giving Small Coil Rewinds a call. They recently had my crook ignition fixed and back to me within three working days.

They actually do that sort of thing for a living. ;)

Any external 2 wire pick up, any flywheel with a lobe on the outside, just onto LiPo's with a 130Amps CCA (enought to start a car) 12v no need for special chargers($107) or any 12v DC battery or you can use a post 02 Honda CR250 stator/rotor, rec/reg and capacitor (about $200 on ebay if you don't want to run total loss) , coil from TwoStroke Shop ($17) and a Ignitech Sparker P2(about $200 with loom). I use Zeeltronics which are a bit different. There is also IMF ignition that will run a Hall Effect sensor
Make a plate to hold the pick up, run a few wires, few connectors or solder apply 12v, do some simple commission tests away you go, a couple of hours work and a few $100 still in your pocket  ;) if you know what I mean  ;)
