John - you don't know where you could get (if they are available) Tenmasters do you.  I used to run 550 x 18s in the day - awesome tire.
You can't get those tyres any more but Pirelli have bought back the Garacross specifically for vintage use, which was a popular tyre in the 80's.

You can still buy Trelleborg Tenmaster's, they go under a new name, contact this company, they said they could import them but I had to agree to a substantial quantity; about 30 I think?

. In fact Daryl Lewis almost won pre 70 at the Coffs Nats on the bike using that vintage tyre combo.

See if you only fitted new tryes and turned the fuel on after the restart you wouldn't have to use the word almost ;)

The tyres were the secret weapon, once the opposition saw them it lured them into a false sense of security ;D. If only I'd known back then what I know today about the bike that beat us......still, that's all history now ;).

A 5.50 is 5 and a half inches so that'd be about equal to a 140

oops yeah - cocked up the basic maths eh - sorry.  With metric have they gone away from wheel diameter to tyre height as for cars ie the 90?

Please someone correct me but I think the two numbers with the "/" between them on the modern motorbike tyres are the width and the height so 110/90 is 110mm wide and 90mm high.
Different to a car tyre where the first number is the width and the second number is the aspect ratio in % so 185/60 is 185mm wide and 60% of 185mm high

Feetup i think it's still a percentage thing like a car tyre.
