Why not include the earlier classes as well? Surely the club can fit all classes in. Failing any chance of that happening, will there be a NSW Classic Dirt Track Championships at any stage?
Whatever the deal, this is a good initiative from Penrith club!

This is going to be a great event. I can't wait!!!

While I can't speak for the Penrith club or their reasoning on not running earlier classes, to me it would seem that the program would not allow it. Canberra choosing to exclude Post Classic classes at the Aussie Titles would indicate that even with two days of competition it may not be possible.

Well done to Penrith for stepping up and providing a title meeting for Post Classic Dirt Track.

Cheers
Shaun

Great news, I'm pretty sure MA had the say on what classes were run at Canberra this year and the amount of hoops they wanted Penrith to jump through to hold a national title meeting also had a lot to do with it being a state title and only a one day event.
Hopefully next year we'll have both Classic & Post Classic title meetings.
Well done Roy and the whole Penrith club.

Well Done Roosta,
As you & I both know the amount of paper work that needs to be done to host such event is time consuming .Well done Roosta hope you get some support from St George to run the event (instead of you running the meeting & trying to ride it).Great shame ACT did not have the forsight to run both class eras. In 2008 Classic Titles they ran Juniors (modern).I sought of thought it was a Classic meeting as I did not see Classic"s as a surport class for their Junior events.
We will see how the entries roll in I personal think they have made a HUGE mistake dividing the ERA's.

Canberra had no say in the matter Dave.
MA made it official in January this year that the Classic titles for both MX & DT would be split in two.
From what I can tell Canberra tried to have both but it became too hard and too costly for the club to push the issue.
Hence a State Title meeting for post classic ( Evo, Pre85 & Pre90 ).
Full credit to Roy & the Penrith club for taking on this meeting.
Hopefully next year will be more organised, you have to admit that the Classic program was becoming very congested and a split was inevitable, it just happened to be this year.

MA certainly had the last say, as Slides points out, Dave, I can tell you that the Canberra club looked at all possibilities. It was far too expensive for the club to run both eras, even to run just the Pre '85s as Australian Championships as well as the rest of the earlier Classic Championship classes, as was proposed to MA, would have cost ANOTHER MA permit fee of a few thousand dollars, three grand I believe.

The Junior Championship class was proposed to MA, as it is listed in the current GCR's as a class for an OZ title, only to be told that the Supp Regs would not be approved if they included the Junior Classic class and the reason given was that the Junior Aussie Classic class SHOULDN'T have been in the rule book.

Also, given that the Evo class now has the same age groups as pre '75 and if all classes were well subscribed, it would have been well nigh impossible to get through all the classes combined in two days with a meaningful number of rounds.

Also, to quote the GCRs,
The Classic and Post Classic divisions will be run seperately at the Australian Championships, however consideration will be given to run both events under special circumstances

The above is to the best of my knowledge and I'm not having a shot at anyone.

I resoundingly applaud the efforts of the Penrith Club to run a NSW Post Classic DT meeting and EA and I will be there with bells on.

As this is the first year of the Classic / Post Classic split, lessons are there to be learnt and hopefully applied to next years events. If anyone has anything to say about the subjects discussed , it would be more than useful to say it to the members of the MA Classic DT and MX Commission.

I re-iterate, I'm not having a shot at anyone, that's just how the cookie crumbled and hopefully I'll see ya at Canberra in October

Good on Roy and the Penrith club for running the Post-Classic's, really a shame they are not running together as we all know both events will struggle for numbers, just what we need is either event not to succeed and Classic Dirt track to slip back in the doldrumbs.

Good to see you guy's back safely Pete and well done.
It'll all work out okay, the split also started off in MX this year and by all accounts the Classic titles in Qld were really well supported, unfortunately the Post Classic titles set down for Tassie didn't eventuate but I'm pretty sure that was because of distance more than anything.
From what I can gather there is a heap of interest in the Post Classics at Nepean, even guy's from Griffith are welcome.
All good Mick.
