Me thinks they would all be "late" imports from the USA... only one steel tanker came to Australia back in the day.... was in WA and I was the second racer of it... raced in MX trim..but still had all the enduro gear in a box..lights centre stand speedo enduro exhaust ...would love to know where it ended up..  :)

Cheers Watto. Was that one that John Kirkpatrick brought in. He said he tried to get one not knowing they were made by KTM but I thought he didn't get it in the end. Mine definitely arrived here in the last year or so. Better late than never. Love to hear anything about the old Penton KTM history in Oz.

Raced a 72 125 Sachs KTM in sub-juniors in 1972. Bought it from -Athol Patterson's in Springvale. Pretty competitive as it was per Elsinore days. Soon as they came out in 73 everything was a sea of grey. In Victoria Steve Cramer rode one in A grade as he was sponsored by Athol. Mick" Skippy" Parsons had one in B grade while I had the 3rd in sub-juniors 14-16 year olds. Steve often borrowed mine to ride as he quite often broke shift levers trying to force through the false neutrals. We were all members of the Oakleigh MC club. Spent quite a few seasons racing Steve's younger brother Grant who was quite a mini bike champ being sponsored by Cycleworld in Parahan. Oakleigh MC used to meet at the Oakliegh Hall. Had to make sure you got the right room as AA was next door. They looked surprised when I stumbled in there on my first night. Guess they didn't get many addicted 14year olds back then. Ah how things have changed. Have acquired all the parts except a front end to rebuild a 72 KTM if anyone interested.

Yes, I do know where their is a Penton steel tanker enduro 125cc, sachs engine, the tank is the round scallop style green and white, ceriana forks. alloy or steel guards, I have ridden the bike many years ago
and he still have it.
I owned a 1972 KTM 125cc sachs, a fellow in NSW has got it, Brad lewis.
