Hi Guys,

Unfortunately I will not be attending Canowindra this weekend due to family reasons, have a great ride/race and whenever you pass Greg Holmes in the pits give him a big pat on the back for making this annual event such a HUGE success.

The Wrap Up - Well the curse of Canawindra - RAIN - reared it's head again on the Friday. Severe Storms they reported. Wind and rain so heavy we had to pull over.

Saturday race day arrived to some light showers and and a track that soaked up the downpour like a sponge. Bit of wind and some sunny spots had the track working fantastic. Zero dust - no mud and a bit of slip. This years layout was even better. 20 L plastic drums and 30km of tape set the general rules of engagement. Kick a drum or cut a corner cost 2 places this year. Saved about 400 kicked and displaced drums this year.

Great turn out of Pre 78, 75 and 70 bikes. Good sprinkle of non club members turned up for a taste as well. Dave from Orange and the fast Grant from Bega on his fathers original Evo Honda 250.

Locals did all the flagging and arranging for us and it ran like clockwork. Plenty of toe to toe racing. Hard to get past without risking a bit of argy bargy.   Rickman BSA, TS 185's CZ's Motessa, KTM, RH Suzuki's, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda Baby Thumpers, Big Bore Can Am's and the list goes on and on.  No major injuries so Dave the medic had an easy day. John Zarro was about the worst off after his arm got sucked up by Burko # 76 back wheel. Burko was on fire this weekend. Riding these flatter corner tracks suits some blokes and Burko is one of the. His Husky held together well for some top wins.

The club No1 Plate holder showed us all why he has that plate. His Pre 85 CR 500 Honda an absolute rocket ship with him on it around this track. A mix of tight lefts and rights made way from some 3rd gear sandy burms then to some wide open drifting sweepers, The local HWP arrived and put the speed camera on a couple of blokes who were clocked at almost 80k coming out of a sweeper. Noice...

The format was for Pre 78 bikes all in followed by Pre 85 all in and the best of each group went into the Final for the Canowindra Cup. All ages of rider, bike, capacity, colour flavour all in together.

The winners were - First Jody Perry # 1  Second  Grant from Bega # 16 and Third Carl Blecher #4 -  There was another Cup for the first Pre 78 bike home and it went to Carl Rindlisbacher #9 ( 1972 Husky 450) who came 4th behind Carl Blecher.

The presentation and evening meal put on by the locals was brilliant. Most stayed on in the hall for a good old race review. Better than braving the minus 3 degrees that rolled in later that night.

Best meeting yet - Ya shoulda been there.

PS - Ken Swan on #222 had a blinder too. Limited his time on the ground and didn't have a steam issue with a air cooled bike.

Went up to Canowindra today for a look. Perfect weather, track was pretty fine too. Apparently a little greasy on saturday, but on the whole a top weekend I'm told.

Here's a few photos:
