It was re sleeved mate and over bored. Very hard to find pistons but I was also told about using later model with bottom ring removed.

Hi Hardo,   I still have that Rocky kit and a OEM kit.  A mate of mine has used the Rocky kits in his RM500's for some time with no problems.  I am not sure if it would make any difference in a electrosil cylinder ??  cheers steve

Yes I have been told that works with an 85 piston JohnnyO - with bottom ring removed.
I am really wanting to make sure I get it right... especially considering I am bolting on a NOS barrel.

I guess thats the actual question Steve... Are the Rocky kits okay in the Nikasil bores?

I would be hanging on to that NOS cylinder and getting a good used one for race purposes....  do I still have that spare cylinder or did you snaville that when you were here??

Electrofusion, Nicasil and steel liners all use the same style piston and rings.

The later model pistons fit fine but as said leave the lower ring off as the ring pin is exposed into the inlet port.

Don't know about the Rocky pistons but if they are claiming to be for the early models then you should check that the ring pin is in the right place. Easily done by looking into the inlet port with the reed block removed when the piston as at BDC
