At least I can give you blokes something VMX related this time.  ;D
As part of our efforts to raise some money to help out some sick kids, Bob Hannah has agreed to donate a signed throwback jersey as below. It will be auctioned on eBay sometime just before the ride starts on May 17. So all you Hannah fans better start saving up.  ;)
http://hannahracingproducts.com/store/art/jersy1.html

I also managed to get him to convince his mate, 6 time AMA champion Mat Mladin to pitch in and he's signing a riding jacket which will also be auctioned on eBay.
I'll post links to the auctions once they're set up.

You're going well with this Tony; any luck with 'Australian Story'?

Not as yet, mate.
I've sent them all the details, but no reply at this stage.

Nah Hilly. The bikes are far from top secret, but Suzuki have just finished preparing mine and now it's got to go to Frank Pons to have the suspension improved before I  get it to then add all the navigation gear etc. So I haven't even seen it yet.
I only got Mat Mladin involved because he's mates with Bob Hannah who organised his help for me. He just happens to be back over here at the end of the week to sign a jacket for me.
CD5 would be the perfect place to get some more legends on board, but unfortunately I'm so busy with the ride stuff and still trying to keep food on the table that I can't get over there.
Still, it's pretty damn cool to know that absolute heroes like Bob and Mat will help out when they can.
However, if anyone happens to find a signed Joel Robert jersey in the carpark afterwards...........................  ;)

It's going to look pretty suspect if I'm the highest bidder on all this stuff though.............................  :-\

Not that you blokes will will worry about this one.....................
But Mat Mladin didn't end up making the trip over here so there's no signed jacket but he did get "his people" to send me over a Joe Rocket Vertical Suzuki leather riding jacket. Which is still a pretty good offer to someone he's never met. Well over $500.00 RRP.
However, I have got the Bob Hannah signed Yamaha jersey in my hands ready to frame and auction.
If the winner is in Australia, it will be framed with a gold plaque outlining his championships etc, etc. Sending a frame O.S. would cost too much.
We expect the auction to start the same day as the ride. May 17..................
So don't spend up too big at CD5. Save some money for the kids living with cancer.  ;D

5 days to go until we're on the road.
Won't have much from from now on to post here.
It's all come together. Just doing a few jobs like planning an escape route through Tjuntjuntjarra if the country along the SA/WA border becomes too difficult. It's all pretty well unknown between Forrest Lakes and the Anne Beadell Highway and well out of flying Doctor/helicopter range, so we'd better get it right through there.....................
Big thanks also to T250K for the donation. Thanks mate.  ;D
See you all in a month or so....................
P.S. I've run out of time to auction the Bob Hannah jersey, so we'll do it when we get back. Fundraising will continue until the close of the raffle on August 8 anyway.

Out of range of the Doctor?! I thought they went everywhere?
Hey, if you get stuck call 'A Current Affair' and tell 'em you've stumbled across Bin Laden.
They'll have Ray Martin and fleet of choppers there within the hour!

Good luck and good onya!

I'm baaaack...............  ;D
I actually got back last Sunday, but work/family pressures wrote off most of last week too.
I had absolutely no problems, even punting the V-Strom through the deep, soft sand in the Simpson.

Now we need to get serious about selling raffles tickets to get the cash together to help these families.
See new post.  ;D
