A few questions
« on: April 17, 2012, 05:47:02 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm new here, and new to vintage bikes but love Huskys, i currently have 5 of them.
At the moment i am restoring a 1981 CR250 and i am looking for somewhere in Melbourne to send the fuel tank to have dints removed and then be re-painted, and also have the wheels re built and painted, plus i need the forks re-built and painted.
Any advice, information or recommendations on where to get the above work carried out would be greatly appreciated.
Sending interstate is not a problem.

Thanks in advance
Nathan

Why don't you do the forks yourself? They are very simple and you'll have fun. I can recommend Advanced Motorcycle Spraypainting in Slacks Creek Brisvegas for the tank. I know others are around also - ask Big K on this forum also as he is in Vic.

Are you going to reuse the Nordisc rims? Check them for cracking at the weld first and then make a decision. You will be lucky if they are not cracked. If not cracked don't leave then unspoked for more than a few days or they will crack open on you - it happens often! If cracked you can decide to replace with new new rims or leave the crack alone. Paint has a hard time sticking to rims - powder coat is an option but you won't get a nice gold color.  Good luck!

If you have cracked rims and the crack is not too bad then ignore it.
Don't leave Nordisk rims unspoked for too long.
