Western Motorcycles Backs Sydney West Dirt Track Series
Western Motorcycles has today been confirmed as the title sponsor of the inaugural 2012 Sydney West Dirt Track Series.
Initiated by the Nepean Motor Sports Club, the Series will be run by the City of Penrith MCC and hosted over three (3) rounds at Sydney’s iconic Nepean Raceway. The Western Motorcycles 2012 Sydney West Dirt Track Series is anticipated to be the most exciting and competitive in the history of the Dirt Track racing.
City of Penrith Motorcycle Club President, Steve Coates, said “We're very excited to welcome Western Motorcycles on board and are really encouraged by the interest in this new venture, riders from across the Greater Sydney area and further afield are expected to compete.
"Having a strong local business like Western Motorcycles partner with us to bring this new Series to the local community and understand the importance of keeping motor sport strong in the region is fantastic," Steve said.
Western Motorcycles proprietor, Ray Moody, outlined the importance of the supporting such events and further cementing the profile of motorcycling in the community.
“Western Motorcycles, one of the most successful Suzuki and Honda franchises in Australia, was established in 1975 and has serviced the regions motorcyclists for 37 years. The Western Motorcycle heritage really is about community, so for our business it is very important to work with both City of Penrith and Nepean Raceway to improve the profile of both the sport and the Nepean region as a whole”.
Mr Moody went on to say that “From a business perspective, I am sure we will see a return for our investment however regardless of the commercial benefits to Western Motorcycles arising from this partnership with both City of Penrith MCC and Nepean Raceway, I am personally very happy to give something back to the racing community.”
The 2012 Western Motorcycles Sydney West Dirt Track Series revs up on Sunday 15th of April. With 17 classes and over 60 events on the program the action is sure to be fast and furious with numerous current and previous Australian Champions doing battle on Nepean Raceways 780 meter, 150kph track. Classes will include Pro Open, Pro Lite, Vintage and Veteran, Sidecars, Juniors, Sliders and Ladies to name a few.
