1976 TM 400, Pre75?
« on: April 04, 2012, 06:53:04 am »
A friend of mine is contemplating buying a 76 TM 400.
Is it eligible for Pre75 through the continuation of manufacture rule?

Didn't know there was a TM400 in 1976 .. seems too late doesn't it?  Isn't 1976 a B Model RM or did Suzuki continue the TM's along side the RM's??

ANyway if it is indeed a 76 model then I've got the latest version of the MOM's and it only says TS400 not TM400 so I would suspect not eligible.

The last TM400 was the 1975 TM400M, and there are not many out there. It had the shocks moved up a bit - like the TM250M, so the eligibility argument should be the same. Suzuki's 1976 models had the A suffix, and that's when the RM370A came along. Never say never though, maybe a few TM400Ms were produced into 1976? Any ID on frame?

production was done and dusted by early 75 and there is no 76 model TM anything.

The TM400M is the designated 1975 model and is a pre 78 bike.

if your friend wants a good pre 75 tm400 i have a 73 model that goes great , has a gmc pipe and i bought it off a suzuki man in melbourne about 3 months ago , its in good racing condition and goes like a scalded cat but doesnt seem to have the nasty power hit everyone talks about , comes with a complete set of new repo plastics, seat foam and cover, new repo tm400 side covers with the 400 white vynil stickons , a complete set of 73 tank decals, other projects have taken precedence, do it up with the new gear or race it now its a peach  3300 gets it delivered between brisbane and melbourne.
