Gearbox bearings
« on: February 14, 2012, 10:12:18 pm »
Does anybody know where I can get new split cage needle roller bearings?
Both KTMs I have use them so I guess they are common?
Thanks in advance, Grahame

Grahame, Just did a quick check using 1980 125 part number 500.33.099.000 with Boltons none on stock. You could try Andre @ KTM klassiker or Al @ Penton Parts. Could also see if your local bearing supplier has them. Never gone and replaced one of those bearings but there is a first time for everything. Hope this will help. Bill

Thanks for that lead. After chasing around different bearing supplies in Melbourne and a couple of hours on the Internet, I tried Boltons. They had 3 in stock which I picked up yesterday at 4pm. I guess this is why they showed out of stock a bit later.
Very happy now, Grahame

Change over to plain bearings,I have and had no problems, to buy the  KTM ones you will need to sell the house and get an extra job.
Measure up the bearings or just take of the KTM ones to the local bearing guy.

Hi Bill, the bike is a 1985 125RV. I think the bottom end maybe had some water damage the bearings. These were the only ones I couldn't get. Boltons price was $31 for each complete bearing (2 pieces).
Cheers, Grahame

Just read my own post after putting up, it's a 1981 model.
It has KYB remote reservoir shocks on it. What should it have?
Thanks, Grahame

December last year. It has been sold 3 times in the last year or so. Now it has someone who loves it.
Cheers, Grahame

I have a brochure for the 1981 MX and Enduro models. Bert Flood has written on it that all bikes come with Ohlins Piggyback except for the 125. I wondered what this meant seeing as mine doesn't have them on either.
I'll put up some pictures soon.
Cheers, Grahame
