What sort of dollars would you pay for a 79-80 CR250 Husky in reasonable condition ??? ???  Its a bit low on compression but everything else looks in pretty good shape??

Now, the next question...................Will the gears from a '77WR fit a '79-80CR box??...........back in the '70s we used to put the last 2 gears from a WR into a CR for enduro's, as I have a '77 WR motor, I was hoping they might fit ??? ;D

Most gears will interchange, but you would be best off just using the complete WR or a OR cluster.

You should consult the manual and do a comparison on the gear numbers etc.

If the engine is actually a 1980 model the barrel is not interchangable with the 1979 and earlier models as the stud pattern is different

You will also need to chnage the gearbox bearings also... as lay shaft / mainshaft sizes changed from 1977 thru to 1980 ...can't just shove in an early gear set into a later (post 79 me thinks) set of cases..

the 78 model is real nice and the ergo's were superb

The 79 model is very very tall , but they  are still real nice rides. Someone correct me if I'm wrong , but i think the 79 was the tallest bike of that era.
They have  35mm forks and they are quite long and they flex "a lot ", but they work real well when set up correctly.

Just finishing a WR250 79 motor with 80 frame. I changed the front to 40mm and a longer swingarm from a 1981 frame to increase the wheel base.
Just remember they are a timed gear box and need to be assembled in 4th gear and the selector cog should show 2 teeth visible at the top. If you have a manual it explains it in more detail.
