Hi all, Just needed to share my experiences on importing vintage bikes. I have imported a reasonable number of bikes from the US & I can assure you, that the bike above will cost more than $2300 landed here!! If you paid $1195 for the bike, you will need to add the bank International transfer fees of $35. To get the bike from Washington to LA (which is about the same distance or further, than Melbourne to Brisbane) $350-$400. Plus another $35 bank transfer for the inland freight. Plus $50 for a import approval. Sea on average is $1000. Now it's in the container package depot, till the container is packed & ready to be loaded on a ship. 40 days on the water & it lands on the east coast. Then needs to customs cleared. Then quarantine inspected $140. If it needs a wash (99% do), (It needs to be taken to a wash bay) $120. Back for second inspection $90. After all is good the GST needs to be paid on the bike $120, inland freight $35-$40 & last of all the sea freight $100. Total = $3325 Including GST
