As long as it's run by an affiliated club as a trailride or club practice day, under the auspices of MQ, then you're covered by the MQ insurance scheme.
i.e. everyone who enters has to have an MA licence or pay for a one day licence.
Yes, and Victorian Vinduro’s are non-competitive seems to attract good support.
If the Vinduro,s are to be NON-competitive as in Victoria then there is a way to do this without much fuss at all.
Don,t know if it's honest or nice but we could just Hi-Jack trail rides here in SEQ.
Pay the $80 each , turn up on mass [ as a lot of guys on old bikes] , and ride .
Or to be real nasty turn up and race.
Most of the trail rides are insured and  have one day licences.

Yeah that's ok Mike but one year I went to Killarney trailride and when I unloaded the '84 XR200 they looked at me like I just climbed out of a tree.(and they knew nothing about me riding sidecars at all :D :D :D)

Was that you EML  ;D
Bit game on something that old ;D ;D ;D ;)

Rivertree is on this weekend and a bunch of guys on older bikes would create a bit of a stir.
I rode there a couple of years back and they looked at me strange on my 86/KTM.
Imagine if a bunch of guys turned up on IT/PE/KDX/KTM/Husky's and outrode the smart little prikkles up the hills.

I had to trials ride up and was much faster down than any of them (not many brakes left after 1st hill  :D :D) I pulled up to watch a hill climb and they all came over-I thought that was nice, 'till I realised they wanted to see where all the smoke was coming from-she got a bit warm-but kept the mozzies down :D :D Still lapped about 15mins ahead of a mate on his 610 Husky. Had a great ride and would do more-after a rebuild of course :D :-\ :'(

Tony, as per my previous post, the Toowoomba Motor Cycle Club has around 500 acres at it's disposal at Murphy's Creek. We can run a good Vinduro there under MQ, it's a registered venue. I'm a licensed level 3 Enduro Steward & CofC. Show me through this post how much interest is out there to run a Vinduro at Murphy's Creek. Tony, I'll also phone you tomorrow. Lawrie

Hi Lawrie,

Sorry I missed your call - Yep, I'm keen for a Murphy's Creek Vinduro!  I'll contact a few people this week with a view to getting a few people together to help organise!   ;D

The one I'd like to run at Crows Nest, would be the 2 riders-one bike vinduro over a period of say 3-4 Hours. We used to do this type years ago and they were great fun. Each rider does one or 2 laps, then swaps. Bikes would have to be pre 85 and broken up into classes. Mind you when we done these enduros years ago we had the latest model bikes. I think we would probly get quite a few Father-son combinations as well. We have started some Senior-Junior fun day Enduros up here this year and they have been great fun. Opinions ??????

Christ almighty it must be Christmas !!

My brother and I have been building and tweaking our vinduro bikes (and spending heaps of hard-earned) for some years now, lying in wait for the Qld Vinduro scene to finally take off.  The event at Green Park in October 2008 was such a great ride and I hope that sort of event can happen in 2012. Good to see the incentive from QVMX to add a Vinduro practice day this year although sadly didnt eventuate.
For a club wanting to 'differentiate' its a pity it couldnt be more focused on vinduro/trail rides and others on mx. But I guess the level of organisation (eg number of volunteers, sweep riders etc, not to mention land size and track setup) is so much more for a vinduro. The opening comment about getting off fat arses really means that quite a few of us have to chip in to get the thing to work, rather than turn up at the track ready to ride.

The post about vinduro being added to the Qld Enduro scene is very interesting - how does that work and how would we/I get involved in that ?

Regarding the level of interest: there would be some statistics one could obtain from the Sunsine Coast MCC for the October 2008 event at Green Park. My reckoning is that there were 100-120 riders. And theres the rider list from the 2010 Masters Games - but that number is probably low because there was the Enduro on the same day and that might have reduced the potential numbers for the vinduro. Col Metcher would be the man to query.

Hi Stewy,

We're all guilty of that..  (except for Noel of course)  That's probably why there have been no Vinduro's in Qld...  We've all been sitting back waiting for someone else to do it..

Well Lawrie has got the ball rolling. Aiming for A Vinduro at Murphy's Creek thru the Toowoomba club and later in the year a Pony Express Vinduro at Mt Binga ( Between Crows Nest and Blackbutt ) thru the same club. And dont forget Connondale.........

Just puttin this out there ;)

How about a Classic EnduroX.  Like the Suzuki EnduoX format.
Your going at your own pace against the clock not other riders still a comp but a bit more relaxed.

Cheers
