How are you supposed to get there without it costing a fortune? If it is going to cost $3400 for car and trailer, that will count a lot of people out including myself.

Hi Walter,
Sadly with your big rig set up the cost will be expensive  I will talk with a mate today who knows a lot about the toll ship which leaves Port Melbourne the same as the spirit but comes in to Burnie instead of Devonport We have sent vehicles on the toll boat about six times and every time it has been about half the cost.
The cheapest way is to put your bikes on the back of a ute and put them on the spirit $79 each way for the vehicle and about $200 for a cabin.

Costs us about $1000 every time we want to go race on the mainland last year I went 4 times. I know your pain I wish the goverment would help out with the transport cost

Cheers

Dont bother with a trailer if you can get out of it put the bikes on a ute or in the back of a van,
$79.00 for vehicle and $99.00 for a cruise seat that is $178.00 each way I would of thought that was reasonable cost. Being in August it is off peak so it will be reasonably cheap. I spent $800 on fuel to get to SA and home with out the ferry cost. So please dont discount coming because of the ferry cost, book early and I will let everyone know when the specials are on. Sometimes the specials are cheaper then flying.

Get 20 guys together and put your bikes in a shipping container Launceston to Brisbane $3000 Launceston to Melbourne $1500 works out to be about $200 each to Brisbane and less then $100 to Melbourne If I can help in storing your bikes let me know. If you only have one bike I can get it over the water by removalists for about $200

cheers

Part of the VMX experience is camping in trailer at the track. Bike security is another issue, as having bikes stolen before, I am not going to travel from NSW with the bikes sitting in the back of my ute. This is the first post classic nationals that will want a good roll up of riders and we have the first one in Tasmania. Almost assuring numbers will be down. I have just priced the ferry at $1600, this is on top of all other costs associated with getting there.

You actually can claim some racing expenses back through tax if you are a business and claim it as advertising your business.

Head, I am certainly hearing you, It costs to get over that water but I think if we are serious about this split than we will go to where ever the Nationals are held. The riders from Tassie know all about costs to race I personally have spent 10s of thousands racing on the mainland in the past years I havent missed a nats since 93 and I will continue to go to were the racing is.Nats,HBBB CD's etc

PS Tasmania was the only application to hold the post classic nats so if you are not happy with the venue then you should ask your club to host the event next Year and I would be more than happy to come and have a race.

PPS You will love the track, venue and surroundings I promise

Cheers

Hi Guys,
The Supp Regs are finished for the upcoming Post Classic Nats We are just waiting for the naming rights sponsor. We have two major players interested. Hopefully will have them to MA in the next week or so. The track is unreal we raced at the weekend and everyone had a great time. We took delivery last week of a new toilet block for the pit area which will include showers as well. Will be fully opperational by August making camping at the track even better then it is now. We now have three blocks of toilets, 4 showers and even a washing machine. We also have a great canteen and a new scoring tower. We will be supplying fire wood for a couple of fire places for campers and will be having full security so your bikes and gear will be able to be left at the track safely.

If you miss this event you will be definitly disapointed as it is shaping up to be a orsome event.
Any questions please ask.

Fatboy

Hi Fatboy,
Have you got any photos of the track and the surroundings you can post? It would be good to see a few to get a feel for the place. I'd also be interested in a track map if you have one, and I think others would as well.
Cheers

It's probably worth a phone call or two, in 2010 involvement with the ASBK took me all over the country and i do recall there was a Tas Government backed travell subsidy. I belive the idea was/is to bring people (competitors) to Major Events in Tassy, I have absolutley no idea whether this was a deal that the promotor struck with the Government or if it is a "normal thing". I do not know what the department was called . . Regional Development or some such.

Not a shit load of help but worth a phone call or two.
