my final piece of evidence was never submitted Mario  a sales receipt from 1977 from a guy in the US who had the optional swingarm fitted before he took delivery.

We've been down this road before with the debate on the optional alloy arm and it was definately available in '77.. I'd gladly use one in pre '78.
