Another guy from that era was Cactus Martins...he showed his face at the Nats..........same sort of race period as Geoff / Fred / Bob...

I forgot Cactus ::). When you factor in the comparitively smallish vintage racing population in South Australia, they've certainly contributed well over their quota of eccentrics and party animals!

I'm glad Fred's still around. I recall hearing that his mate Clarkie passed away a few years ago which must have been hard on Fred as the pair seemed inseperable. Clarkie and Fred really knew the ins and outs on pre '75 Yamahas and it was Clarkie who solved a problem I'd been having with my Yamaha clutches by telling me to simply add an extra steel plate, something I still do to most of my Yammies to this day ;).

I'm even sorrier I missed Crystal Brook now :'(.
