YZ125 G Forks?
« on: August 21, 2011, 11:03:23 am »
Just bought a 125G to restore. Not sure about the forks. Did the US bikes have longer fork tubes as the seem to have quite a lot protruding from the clamps.Mine does not look like it would have any! What is the overall length the forks should be?
Thanks.

Should have about 75mm above the top triple, and still at least 300mm between the tyre and the underside of the front guard.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Thanks, did a quick measure and they should be the correct ones. Just looked like the bike was sitting level with them at the top of the clamps.Maybe need to have a look at the rear shock next then!

I got about 965 mm front center axle to top of fork tube , or 580 from top of slider.

Yeah well, I saw how quick you were on the IT. So I thought a YZ would really blow you away :D Besides,I was riding YZ's before you were born. As long as you are under 30.Don't know how I ended up on the Suzuki's ::) See you at Yanakie

Haha well played.. For the record I'm 32. Perish the thought I should be under 30 in viper. Believe that's highly frowned upon  ;) and yes will be at yanakie with bells on and a killswitch that doesn't try and throw me over the bars half the time by cutting the motor!!

Andy and I were just havIng another chuckle at this one today! I like how I'm that far back you can see he rear guard under me lol. By the way my bike and your yz share many parts so you can look at the forks on mine a yanakie as they are identical. And no sadly this was just me expecting the IT to handle like my modern over that Mongrel kicker jump ;) :D ;D

I lost mine at yanakie but found it on the last straight at the lunchbreak!! They are easily found on evilbay but the steel bracket that hooks on the two pop rivets with the stud hanging off it to mount the lid is far rarer Im looking for one myself for another project i've undertaken
