What are those KDX400's like? would it make a good motocrosser if you stripped the lights from it and fitted a KX seat and tank?

Great motor, but the suspension was a bit short compared to the MX'ers of the era.

The perfect bike was a KDX400 motor in a 79 KX250 frame - since Kawasaki had no 400cc motorcrosser in 1979 I've been told this is actually what Peter Ploen rode in 1979.

Actually the bike Ploen rode was a '79 KX250 frame with a '76 KX400 engine fitted and he grafted a reed valve onto the cylinder. We travelled to Amaroo Park in convoy for the '79 MR Motocross final which he rode that bike in.. it was the only KX in the field.

Take a fast one Tony cause Gary Woodgate,s keen to let his hair down.
He came 2nd outright, with Brian Spencer, at the masters after a 25 year break. :o

Cool!  I didn't know that!  That'd be an interesting bike to replicate...    ::)

I am, as long as I'm over my pneumonia...
You know anyone who'd like to ride but hasn't got a Vinduro mount?
