So I've been thinking that given how I haven’t even looked at, let alone started rebuilding the 84 KX125 that I’ve had in the shed for the last 5 months, that it's probably more time effective to purchase a bike that's ready to race, particularly if I want to start racing sometime this year
.
I haven’t even got around to posting on here since my initial introduction, although I have been logging on keeping abreast of developments and getting to know all the forum members personas
Usual story, new job, lots of travel, no time to get to the shed etc etc, although I have been to the AGM for the local bike club and will more than likely end up being the treasurer, why is that people assume that if you work in a bank that you're automatically the treasurer
The theory being that I would buy a “race ready” bike, sell my KX125 and if in the future I felt the need to tinker, I could look at some sort of evo project bike, KLX powered KX maybe
Question now becomes which bike to get??
After considering my main criteria are: prefer pre '85 with single shock rear end, prefer disc brake front end and prefer a kawasaki , I want to be somewhat competitive against new bikes on the local track and also do some VMX in Townsville when I can and maybe CD9
. I've sort of set my mind on either an 83 or 84 KX250, I would like a 500 but think they might be too much bike given I haven't ridden a motocross bike in 15 years, although I have seen a fewYZ490’s or even the $3k RM465 on here, but they are drum brakes and I don’t have many fond memories of drum brakes (last bike was a 83 YZ125)
I am somewhat flexible on the kawasaki part, as they’re a bit scarce on the ground and I’ve heard parts can be a bit hard to get compared to the others. I missed out a 84 KX250 on ebay last week as I won’t have my funds together for another 2 months, but I have a line on a 83 KX250 for $5,000 that is apparently very good, but the price seems a bit high and the guy doesn’t have to sell so I guess can name his price.
Any thoughts or any bikes for sale that anyone is aware of and anyone want a 84 KX125??
