There were quite a few piggy back shocks around in the 70's, anyway it's neither here nor there in performance until they bring 30min motos back in

 As a matter of interest I saw a pair of upside down rear shocks on a duplex BSA B33 in around 1964 racing at Arcadia. The bike was owned by the brother [can't remember his name]of the clever tuner of Velos, the late Keith Smith.
 They were modified girlings. Nothing new under the sun eh? cheers pancho.
