Yamaha DT2/RT2 Reed valves
« on: March 11, 2011, 12:10:30 pm »
Through a fluke I've discovered that Boyesen reeds to suit a Suzuki PE 175 fit the DT2/RT2 Yamaha reed cage.
Now I've become a little more adventurous and would like to know if a Boyesen Rad cage from another bike will fit the RT2 barrel? I'm not so much concerned with the width....in that case the kit to suit the PE will fit. I'm more concerned with the depth of the cage, not wanting it to be any deeper than the stock reed cage. The dimensions of the Yamaha reed cage are......
85 x 67mm mounting flange dimensions, 70 x 50mm mounting hole pitch, 50 x 50 x 35 mm deep internal dimensions.

just off the top of my head Firko,
the YZ125 reed block from the "YZ125C" on wards till at least the "F" model are all the same as the RT/DT2,3
reed block
more than likely early IT175's as well...

WHY DONT YOU WANT THE REEDS ANY CLOSER THAN STOCK ? YOU WANT TO GET THEM AS CLOSE TO THE PISTON FACE AS YOU CAN.......

all the 606 ??? B- reeds i think fit like a zillion bikes so PE wont be the only ones, honda Cr where the same to and a stack of the 74-79 yamahas

( SORRY caps was on at the start and im too lasy to retype.)
74 Yamaha YZ's - 75 Yamaha YZ's
74 Yamaha  flattracker's
70  Jawa 2 valve speedway's

For sale -  PRE 75 Yamaha MX stuff, frame, motors and parts also some YAM DT1,2,A and Suzi TS bikes and stuff

I didn't say I didn't want them any closer ???. My worry is a cage from another bike not actually fitting the Yamaha barrel, depth wise. I've already got the carbon reeds fitted, now I'm searching for a Rad valve cage to suit for another tricker barrel down the line. I've got five engines built now so I'm going to experiment a bit.

Yamaha used that reedblock for a few different bikes, add IT125G YZ80H and DT175N to that list...  but for different options for reeds to fit that block the Banshee has the same reeds in a different reedblock

Cheers!

This could get a bit long winded, but….
If my thinking is correct, even though there is something different about all these gaskets and reeds, they must be sharing the same bolt pattern. The reed assemblies may be deeper or different in other ways that may or may not suit your needs.
Order at your own peril,

Officially the reed valve is from these 8 models…

Part # = 10V-13610-01-00
Part Description = REED VALVE ASSEMBLY
Model Count = 8
DT2 1973 250 DT2 Dual Purpose
DT3 1973 250 DT3 Dual Purpose
RT2 1973 360 RT2 Off-Road
RT3 1973 360 RT3 Off-Road
YZ125E 1978 125 YZ125 Competition Motocross
YZ125X 1976 125 YZ125X Competition Motocross
YZ80K 1983 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross
YZ80L 1984 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross

And the gasket from these six models…

Part # = 3TT-13621-00-00
Part Description = GASKET,VALVE SEAT
Model Count = 6
DT2 1973 250 DT2 Dual Purpose
DT3 1973 250 DT3 Dual Purpose
RT2 1973 360 RT2 Off-Road
RT3 1973 360 RT3 Off-Road
YZ125X 1976 125 YZ125X Competition Motocross
YZ80K 1983 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross

Missing from that gasket list was the YZ80L & YZ125E
As these 2 models share the same reed assembly as the earlier models then these gaskets may be thinner / thicker or something but they must be sharing the same bolt pattern.
So the gasket for these 2 models also suits the following…..

Part # = 39K-13621-00-00
Part Description = GASKET,VALVE SEAT - Replacement Number = 39K-13621-01-00 *
Model Count = 2
YZ80L 1984 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross
YZ80N 1985 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross
YZ80K 1983 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross

Part # = 10V-13621-00-00
Part Description = GASKET,VALVE SEAT - Replacement Number = 3TT-13621-00-00 *
Model Count = 12
IT175D 1977 175 IT175 Dual-Purpose
IT175E 1978 175 IT175 Dual-Purpose
YZ100E 1978 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ100F 1979 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ100G 1980 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ100H 1981 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ100K 1983 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ125E 1978 125 YZ125 Competition Motocross
YZ125F 1979 125 YZ125 Competition Motocross
YZ80G 1980 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross
YZ80H 1981 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross
YZ80J 1982 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross

Therefore the reed assemblies from all these models must have the same bolt pattern as the RT2…

Part # = 2X3-13610-00-00
Part Description = REED VALVE ASSEMBLY
Model Count = 1
YZ125F 1979 125 YZ125 Competition Motocross

Part # = 311-13610-01-00
Part Description = REED VALVE ASSEMBLY - Replacement Number = 1L8-13610-00-00 *
Model Count = 22

YZ100F 1979 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ100G 1980 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ100H 1981 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ100J 1982 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ100K 1983 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ125C 1976 125 YZ125 Competition Motocross
YZ125D 1977 125 YZ125 Competition Motocross
YZ175C 1976 175 YZ175 Competition Motocross
YZ80G 1980 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross
YZ80H 1981 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross
YZ80J 1982 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross

The MX125C was in the last reed assembly list but not in the previous gasket list, therefore the gasket for the MX125C also fits…

Part # = 311-13621-01-00
Part Description = GASKET,VALVE SEAT - Replacement Number = 10V-13621-00-00 *
Model Count = 12
DT2MX 1972 250 DT2MX Dual Purpose
IT125G 1980 125 IT125 Dual-Purpose
IT125H 1981 125 IT125 Dual-Purpose
IT175F 1979 175 IT175 Dual-Purpose
MX125C 1976 125 MX125 Off-Road
RT2MX 1972 360 RT2MX Off-Road
TZ750A 1974 750 TZ750 Road Racer
TZ750D 1977 750 TZ750 Road Racer
YZ100J 1982 100 YZ100 Competition Motocross
YZ125C 1976 125 YZ125 Competition Motocross
YZ125D 1977 125 YZ125 Competition Motocross
YZ175C 1976 175 YZ175 Competition Motocross

So out of all that, the YZ80N gasket has shown up but not the reed assembly, so the reed is from…

Part # = 58T-13610-01-00
Part Description = REED VALVE ASSEMBLY
Model Count = 2
YZ80N 1985 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross
YZ80S 1986 80 YZ80 Competition Motocross

Now the YZ80S gasket hasn’t fronted so we check that…

Part # = 1LR-13621-00-00
Part Description = GASKET,VALVE SEAT - Replacement Number = 3JM-13621-00-00 *
Model Count = 10
