I am having trouble with tuning the Minibike and hope somone has a few ideas.
It is a '83 ATC 250R with stock bore.
Fitted with DG pipe and silencer and larger 34mm keihin carby.
The carby was leaking and it seemed to be fueling up and a bit doughy.
Took carby off and reset float level it then went like it should (pulled front wheel of ground in 1st and 2nd) but ran out of fuel and stopped.
Any suggestions or tips on how to get float level correct or how high fuel level should be in bowl, it's been 20 or so years since I have had a 2 stroke so any help would be great.

oldrodder, did it go well before with the 34mm carby on it or only since you put it on?  if the latter, easy to guess that unless something like float bowl too high/low or one or all of the jets too big/small, that the machine just don't function properly with the bigger carby on it.  i guess you won't know until you change a few jets and see it improves performance.  so might have to buy yourself a few main jets, pilot jets, needles maybe and experiment.  as for float height, i reckon set to similar height for the 32mm carb.  take float bowl off, turn upside down, and measure (usually) from top edge of the carby body to the tang (that right guys?  can't remember myself....).  or just go back to the 32mm, and give her a bigger main jet for the dg pipe?  its often said that a bigger carby can just reduce performance, due to less air speed thru the bigger venturi chamber and into the cylinder.  less airspeed, less charge goes in.

I have gone back to 30mm Keihin and will check jetting next time it is ridden, currently starts easy and when warmed revs crisp.
On a quick test run pulled the front wheel off the ground when the power band cut in in first and second gears.
Looks like going to a bigger carb is not necessarily the way to go, as I found out.

We went to mates property on weekend and gave it a run, dropping back to that smaller carby done the trick, checked the plug and appears to running fine.
Here is a pic that ATV Australia magazine took of the finished product, It's marvellous what a difference an expensive camera makes.
