That's how it was. They were considered a pretty fair race bike in the day...then the CZs appeared... :o

It's a replica of a scrambles bike according to the listing on ebay. So I assume it would have started life as a roadie?

Probably is a converted road bike but they all were back then, same basic frame & engine used with different guards & rims

In 1965 to 67 my race a triumph 650, it was a road bike and made into a scrambler thats how it was when it all started, Its the true era of scrambling. then they got the idea to make light weight scrambler, factory bikes got real light and production bike are still heavy in today standard. Greeves where the first to lighten up bike, bantam where road bikes and raced on dirt. then the spanish started with the N model which was a roady or trail, followed by the sherpa S Models, Montesa where go kart engine.

It is a very nice looking bike I have just put my tm400 in our factory to do some work to it and my mates cr250m I would like to go to some of the classic scramble events too would be good to see the early stuff like that going around the track. :)
