Lets just say that it is in the stable  ;)

And its no show queen. It did the majority of the VIPER rounds this year as well as the Honda Bonanza, although it's now resting gently in semi retirement.

I have snapped a couple of SR's myself.
This one would have been a really good shot except this stupid dork wouldn't get off the bike

Would someone hazard aguess that its approx 85 model. The rear suspension had an adjustment witha screw and locknut, which we can see ilistrated, is this a std type of adj or is it special for The SR's.

Works bikes never had a year model persay as the spec of the bike could be 2 or more years in advance of the technology that came on the production model. I'd guess that it would have been a bike that was raced in 84/85 given the side covers. The adjustable rear link was standard fair for 85 models till the lower link setup came into production (86 from memory)

So many cool Kawi's, a couple in that collection are ex Aussie bikes ridden by Graeme Smythe in the late 70's.
#48 big bore and #01 behind it.
Klub Kevlar Grand Poobah Frank Stanborough looked after these bikes like they were his own children when he ran team Amco Kawasaki back in '74-77. He reckons the ex Weinert 400 was a very fragile bike, fast but you never knew what was going to break next. By the time he'd finished with it the bike had a complete Stansborough gearbox with ratios more suited to our shorter tracks and with much stronger gears. The ports had been modified by Gary Treadwell and he's also made the pipe, resulting in a faster yet more user friendly power delivery. The 250 was not an ex Weinert bike as rumoured but was an ex Japanese series development bike, used in Japanese events to try works tricks before they went onto the works bikes out in the field. It was much tricker than the 400 but for some reason wasn't used as much, possibly because the Mr Motocross series was for open class bikes. Because of that it wasn't as modified as the 400 although Frank thinks it may have recieved one of his transmissions and a Treadwell pipe.

Tell us more about the first pic, GMC. Taking a photo of a bike in the pits is one thing, but getting a sit on a year-old works bike is a pretty big deal - particularly if you were away from a race meet/team workshop/museum (as the background suggests).

FWIW, the production 125 got the 'normal' linkage in 86. The production KX250 & 500 got it in 87.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Ya cheeky bastards ;D

Yeah, I was thinking that too as I wheeled it out of the back of Goats garage for a quick photo shoot.
But it just some old dunger that Goat had laying around. :o ;D

I don’t know calling it a production bike with works parts would be correct as this photo was taken in March 85.
More likely the production bike was based on the works bike.
