Yes Jerry the tower was on your right about 100m from the rubber band start line. It was a blast down the straight into a left hander up the hill, I remember coming a gutser on the last lap over the jump just before you sweep onto the main straight on my XR75 back in 1978

The only thing I have is a race program from one of the Honda minibike meetings in the late 70's. I will have a look tonight it might have a track map in it.

Note the yearly originality of headline-writing by Age sporting journos in early 1970s.   They could have got jobs
at Trail & Track.

(BELOW: I wonder whose track that was at Lilydale ...?)

The Lilydale track was quite likely the Cave Hill track. Lot of blokes used to get up there back in the day. Had a ride around there with Graeme Treasurer on his sidecar scared the crap out of me! Goes without saying there's a housing estate on it now. Cheers Jerry

If you do have a look on Google you can see the remnants of the main straight but you better hurry before Google do another flyover. Jerry

I'm somewhere there in the middle of the dust....couldn't see past the handle-bars.  I remember backing off and looked in amazement as guys flew past me riding blind.  Worst dust conditions ever.

From Mark Hill today:
"Had a great discussion about Wallan today with Dad ... he said he had a 8mm film of Gaston at Wallan.   He is looking for it, interested?
I have some fond memories of this circuit.
"A friend was riding on this track about 4 years ago on a Amigo 50 I restored for him, if only
he knew how ironic this was.   He was staying with friends in Wallan at the time.
"I was very pleased to hear some parts still remain visible.   I once won a trophy, BP Honda Cup on a borrowed SL 70.   It was David or Gary
Armstrong's bike.  I was no good but that bike was quick.
"Still have a little memorabilia from Wallan.  EG:  Programs, signed by Gaston, Gerard poster and some plastic Hang Ten signs that
I acquired from the startline.  Myer MX stickers etc etc.  Thanks for the heads up (about Wallan) ..."
                                                                                                                                                         - M HILL
