SWM Sprockets
« on: October 23, 2010, 12:28:07 pm »
Can anyone suggest where I can buy a rear sprocket for a 250 TF1 (I think...........  ::) )
Plenty list fronts but no rears.
Or is there something from a different model that will fit?

Hi Tony
I have some NOS SWM rear sprockets 47T but they take a 530 chain.
I do have one that was lathed to fit a 520 so it can be done.  If 47T is what your after let me know.

On my 175 I think I run a RM500 50T steel sprocket, would have to check what year.

If it ever wears out I will probly go here.

Many thanks, Noel.
I actually have no idea what how many teeth I'm after.  ::) I've hardly ridden the thing.
The good news is that it wasn't such a dumb question after all.  :D

I might get the suspension sorted, have a proper ride, then see what I reckon.
Seeing as mine's a 280, 47 might be close.
I'll get back to you if I think it's what I need.

Tony, I use Suzuki RM c/s sprocket, Link #415. Its a 520 and you just linish off the boss on the sprocket and it fits right on. 11 -15 teeth available. The Canams run a 14T standard.
WANTED. Canams;all models,complete or parts.SWM stuff too!

In case getting sprockets was a problem, I threw it back together and did a few quick laps to get a feel for it.
Gearing now is 15/47, but I think for most Vinduros, 14/47 would be better.
I've got a spare (worn out) 50 tooth rear, that I'll take down to my dealer tomorrow and see if he can match it to anything.
Thanks again for all the input fellas. Much appreciated.

This is probably a dumb post but give Martin Matthews at http://www.motoswm.com/ a call.

Yeah, thanks Tim.
He listed front sprockets but not rears, so I assumed that if he had them they would be listed.
If I can't find something locally, I will get in touch with him.

Tony, Martin's a regular over at trialscentral and is really helpful. His TF1 (I think) featured in a CDB a while ago. He'll certainly be able to assist you in this quest  :)

Tony It won't match anything proper.
The sprocket bolts are a stupid 7mm.  As I say mine is an RM sprocket and although the holes don't line up spot on, the bolt heads sit down in the countersink and seem to stay there ok.
Not sure if this make sense :)
Whatever bigbore RM had the brake and sprocket on the same side of the wheel.  84?

Hmmmm, I didn't realise they were 7mm.  :-\

I haven't had a look, but surely it would be possible to drill the hub to 8mm if I can find a sprocket with the same bolt pattern?

I get it now. I just went out to the shed and had a look.
I see what you mean, Noel.......  ::)

Gotta say, I'm enjoying the challenge of something a little different, though!  ;D

Johnny Titman would be able to cut you one up, he has Talon blanks, just send him your old one to copy.
