6 Volt bulbs
« on: August 23, 2010, 04:57:24 pm »
I'm trying to chase down some 6V bulbs for my SP rebuild and keep up coming up empty handed. I've tried a few electrical places, Google, EBay but still nothing. I'm chasing bulbs for the indicators, headlight and tail light.... any ideas folks.

I'm on the southside of Brisbane if that helps at all.

These are the 2 best places

http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com
http://www.classicandvintagebulbs.com

But also www.denniskirk.com has a fairly large range too.

Sometimes its easier to search on ebay etc if you know the base number of the globe.

your local bike shop should still carry 6v globes,if not they can get them from M.C.S. wholesalers, most shops have their catalogue, ask em for a look, you may have to buy a whole box, usually 10, then you will have some spares!

Yeah depends what you need. MCS and Link have some of the more common ones but if its a little more specialsed or a lower wattage they wont have it (I have their catalogues) You can see what MSC has here - www.mcsonlline.com.au
Being an SP suzuki i would take a guess and say its a P15-25-3 base for the headlight (3 pins). The tail light and blinker globes are common enough though.

Thanx heaps guys.. finally found some thru a friend of a friend. Ah the power of FaceBook hey  ;)

I think I've got most of the SP sussed except for one thing. I’m chasing a magneto resistor for the old girl. I can get an OEM one from the local Suzuki dealer but they’re asking bloody $76 for it (and they've got one on the shelf). I did a hunt on some forums and a couple of guys have used a voltage regulator instead. Any clues, ideas or thoughts on this… I’m lost with all this electrickery stuff.

You can also get 6 volt AC regulators from norbsa in UK. Also they are here too http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/rg06-regulator-1325-0.html

Unless you really know what YOUR doing i would just keep it as standard as possible. As soon as your thinking of any mods off from standard, your better off just converting it all to 12 volt. There are complete off the shelf 12v systems.

shorelinemc - Are you in the old Cleveland Pool Hall... next to Rusty's Harley shop?

LWC82PE - Yeah ya could be right mate. The basics I can figure out but once I have to start changing stuff around.... I'm thinking bout going a 12V system when I get back from my next book research ride.
