Anybody got a spare tank laying around - KX125 A5
« on: August 21, 2010, 08:20:38 am »
Evening lads ..

Still here in Darwin ... things have changed, but anyway ...

Decided to fire up 'Christine' my KX .... bit a fuel, few kicks and away she went. Amazing as I haven't started Her for 8 years ....

But ...... I noticed the Tank has split along the LH side ... clean as ... about 6 inches long horizontally ?????

So anybody got a spare they're willing to part with

79 KX125A5 ... the first of the plastic tank model

shit that's bad news Beefa, just out of interest for the 8 years it sat was the fuel tank empty?

there is another thread on here about tanks splitting, seems like when they are empty for long durations they end to split.

Hoony ... yeah no fuel in the tank for years ... didn't want the fuel to discolour the tank so sat dry for years...

MC61 .. I'm sure the 250 and the 125 are the same ..common parts etc.. guards, tanks. fenders etc..

$$ lads $$$ ...

Lots of soul searching going on at the 'mo .. Divorce's and stuff .... anyone interested in buying "Christine" ... yes I've had a few Beers

I may be able to help with a few leads on a 250 tank and I'm in Darwin.

If you decide to keep the KX, and we all think you should, then you're welcome to bring it out for a ride with us or have a play in the vintage class at a DMCC MX meeting

Cheers

Brent

The first two meetings this year I rode my TM125 and a mate rode the XT. Another Brent rode his YZ's, 125C or 250D.

I had some fantastic races with Adrian for last place in veterans!

I was not able to ride the last meeting so I loaned the TM to a mate to ride and it dropped the kick start gears just before he started!
The XT is awaiting a new rear rim and spokes. The three vintage bikes there all belonged to the other Brent

Cheers

250 tank is  considerably bigger than 125 tank  ;) they will fit a 125 but look a bit odd  :-\. KLX 250 tank is same as KX 250 A5 tank

Anybody ???

Beefa, I think I have one. Is there any specific numbers or markings on yours that I may be able to identify this one with.
It looks the same as the one pictured below.

Regards Stan.
