Hello All
« on: August 15, 2010, 07:18:17 pm »
Hello All,
i have asked a couple o questions of the brains trust over the past couple of years but have never introduced myself. Bikes are my hobby and the tool i use to escape the rat race and the misses, I have never raced or competed only a few poker runs, Trail rides and wide open bush paddocks are my thing.
Ill have a go at building anything and after 25 years spinning spanner for fun i am still very much a novice.
I currently ride a KTM but early japanese is my poison, my current project is to customise a 79 CR80 frame to fit a XR200 motor sporting a  YZ125 steel tank and forks and a modified 81KX 80 rear swing-arm sporting twin shocks. with a underswept pipe. a little bit HL500 style only smaller. I sounds shocking i know. but the picture is great in my mind. I have most parts sourced with exception of the motor. (If anyone can help with this Im interested) I work away plenty and only get a few hours on weekends and nights to do my thing so this build will probably take 12 months or more.
No doubt i will have many questions over this period and im sure ill need some advice, So Guys that who i am and what i Do.

Cheers

Gday Ideasman
I planted a xl125 into a CR80 about 10yrs ago,a couple of cuts on the upper gusset an a bit of heat to re shape a few bits, cut, bend an reweld the lower frame tubes, remove the top tube that the coil mounts to,an refix an upper mount on top,and they fit in ok  ;) My young bloke fanged this around for a couple of years without any probs,Its now only used as a pit bike at the odd meet
Cheers KB
