Another dumb question
« on: August 07, 2010, 01:44:45 pm »
I have the old school original bend and rise on the bars on my MK3 Bultaco. A mate reckons I would benefit from some Renthal bars with the "Jimmy Button" bend. He suggests more control and happiness will be mine if I aquire some. Is this true? Thanks Jerry

I'm a big fan of the 764-bend Renthals - compared to most original bars, they've got less sweep-back, and work better when rotated foward in the triples. They're also quite high for a modern bar, meaning you don't end up hunched over.

There's a TAG bar with a similar size/shape, and the ProTaper KX-Hi bend bars are also similar.

As tony27 said, they're the same.

Good tip Davey. There are a lot of quad stuff that translates well to bikes. I switched to the Renthal Desert bars on the advice of an American mate to replace the Jimmy Buttons which were on my KTM modern when I got it.

I like the Desert-Vintage Renthals and the Dakar-High Renthals. the Dakar-High is a bit taller than the Desert-Vintage. I dont think the Dakar-High bars are available in Australia or USA though.
