Factory riders back in the 60`s, the bikes they raced where just production bikes with some improvements, and early 70`s where the same, the differents in production bikes and works bikes started with the Suzuki RH71, RH72. but the bikes before that era where standard production bikes.

I have read on here about works beezas with unobtanium frames and such. One off bikes I would think. They would fit the 'works bike' mould.
A standard bike with improvements is a bit of a stretch (putting it VERY nicely).
If that is the case, I have a shed full of works bikes.

Twinport cz, as joel robert had said same moulded bike as a production bike just like yours brad, show me the differents. The greeves bikes and AJS Stormer, dots where not works bikes and the top factory riders raced them, with improved components, if not they where the same bikes as the bikes you would buy over the counter.

I used a bsa as an example Dave, not a cz. I may stilll be wrong about the bsa as I know very little about those era bikes. The example was used as I know that they used a titanium frame that cost shit loads back then so was guessing there would have been a big difference between the works bsa as opposed to the production one.
The point of my original post is that calling your bike a works bike is an outlandish statement which by your previous post is not true.
Or have I miss read your post?
Do you own a works Bultaco?

As long as you don't call it a "works bike" when you put it up on eBay, you can call it Jennifer for all I care. We'd hate to see some gullible punter actually think he was buying something special now, wouldn't we David?

Im gonna bat for Dave on this one  :) its his bike and as Firko said he can call it Susan if he so chooses  :P

As for selling its buyer beware , if he wants to call it a works bike or factory bike good on him  :)
It was built in a factory , and it works ie does what it was built to do.

What does shit me is every time i open a current MX magazine i am insulted with head lines like "we test ride harry holeshots (or who ever the latest modern hairdresser wannabe is ) FACTORY rm yz cr, kx etc"

Witch in fact is a production modern 4 stroke shitter with some pro circuit go slow bits bolted on, some anodizing and gay tank stickers  ::)

How the fork is that a factory bike , true factory bikes stopped existing a couple of decades ago and i feel privillaged that i was there to remember the golden era of our sport  :)

I've often wondered about that. I thought the rules had changed (yet again) and that they were in fact 'factory bikes'.  ???

I think people go a little soft in head over all these 'works' bikes sometimes. Yeah there was some pretty trick gear getting about but surely some of these bikes (because of the nature of their being), must have been shitters (Steven Galls OW from '81 springs to mind) and 'factory' riders were more often than not, happy to throw a leg over a 'proddy' again.
Also the guys riding these things weren't your average Jock and probably could have got around on Ag bikes at a decent clip as well.

It isn't hard to make a fairmont into a HO Brad there were how ever many gt's made but there are a hell of alot more registered through the rta so go figure you have to be careful on old bikes and cars it is easy for people to change #'s on steel and alloy I have seen bikes and cars false advertised on ebay they never go any good.
