I think whatever floats your boat is probably good advice. I think the condition of the bike you purchase and parts availability could be important issues. the Japanese stuff tends to hold together and parts are available most of the time.

I would go 175/200 KDX, IT, PE based on them not wearing out as fast as 125s, being cheap and having some torque.

I agree. I've got a KDX200 and an IT175K - both are great bikes to ride. They're fast enough to be amusing, light enough to not wear you out and have decent suspension. The only time they're not awesome is on fire-roads/open paddocks where they run out of top speed, but there's SFA of that at the Vinduros I've been to.

Its a pitty its not like that one in the photo, but in saying that, cleaner plastic and spilt and polish will help make it shine.

Aircool where 1980, the first of the watercool model was 1981. l would say an 1980 model gs.

 When you take delivery would you post the frame # and the engine #.
We can get the year from those 2 things. It may take a 175 cc top end if its a 79 i believe.
I have access to some books that will let me know once i know the engine #.
Its an option you could go to at a later date if you wanted a bit more torque.
I have a 76-79 175 6 fin KTM cylinder grafted on my Sachs 125 A engine.



 Makes a very light engine ( 20 LBS lighter than a KTM engine ) with a good bit of torque for a small bore. Easy to ride for old fat enduro riders like me chuckle chuckle!!!!!

John l will keep that l mine, years ago l had a lot of DKW and spare sach engine new barrels and heads, l did`nt realize that you could do that, marry them up. l had a hodaka with a zundapp head. and that is being use in vintage.
