I've a TS125R project bike I've been toying with a bit in the last few weeks. Today I was doing a little suspension sorting when I noticed something..the TS stuff felt lighter to handle than the TM equivalent. What the!!
Sure enough out came the scales (calibrated of course
)
The TS frame weighs in at 9.80kgs against a TM125 of 10.050kgs.
TS swingarm weighs 8g more than a TM swingarm
TS top triple clamp weighs 550g against the TM item weighing 760g
TS 'steel' steering stem weighs 1.495kg and the TM alloy job is 1.510kgs
Together these few TS125 parts weigh near a 1KG (900ish grams to be exact) less then the TM125 counterpart..try finding that sort of weight reduction by drilling holes or using alloy brakes stays and such! Incidently the TM complete weighs 85kgs and the TS125 is 90kg with all the road gear and battery etc..I found this interesting and it only adds a little more incentive toward this project.
