RM250X
« on: April 19, 2010, 07:35:31 pm »
Trying to sort out the front suspension on my RM250X. Set the oil height as per manual. Springs are stock etc. Still very soft through the stroke. Thinking it may need more oil and perhaps some spacers. Other than that can anyone advise me on a suitable setup and perhaps different springs and or valving to make these skinny forks work the best they can. Prefer to keep it standard looking as apposed to fitting later model forks. Dave

i have a RM250X which i have fitted a later set of forks to, but as you wish to keep it original contact Nick Dole at Teknik in Sydney, supply him the O.D, the free length and what rate you require and he will set you up with the correct springs. i also had a set of fork emulators left around from another bike, which i fitted. With the standard forks fitted they are definitely too soft both in the spring rate and the oil control. i weigh around 87kg, and the spring rate supplied was .44 For most VMX tracks this set up is quite good, play with your oil height from the std capacity for bottoming resistance.

bike looks good they were a great model 8)

set oil level  150mm from top forks collapsed springs out
go for a heavier oil
motul 2 stroke gearbox oil is perfect trust me
fit a 20 mm spacer on top of spring
if its still a bit soft  add 10 psi of air
that should do the trick ;) ;D
