Muddy did you get any of later in the race when anyone behind Wally looked like monsters from the black logoon.

I think for the first laps they were able to stick with the pack but coping the roost from three bikes in front of you is going to make it tough plus being on a pre 75 bike and its lower ground clearance didn't help had the track been dryer they would have been mixing it with the pack because they looked good in practice.

Put it this way, if it was my boy riding my old bike and I was up there in the clouds looking down I would have have had a smile from ear to ear not matter where he was in the field!!!
But in truth he and his passenger did very very well.

To all that competed at the nats what a great effort. To the Queenslanders my son and I could have not met a nicer group of people. Once again when things go wrong for a team they keep smiling as they love racing sidecars.
To Wally and Steve great effort back to back, no matter what age you are to do this is truly a grate effort. Good to meet both of you.
Remeber the next you throw your leg over a bike or jump into a chair is because we all love racing and having a good time. 3 wheels is so much more fun than 2

Now I'm allowed more hypothetical's tonight after a few Mexican/El Salvador beers.
How much prize money would you think it would take to get a full pre75/pre85 grid full that's 30 odd,for next years Nats...5k ...10k
Say
1st  $5000
2nd  $2500
3rd $1000.................................do you reckon it would happen.....
Best is in the West !!

Wally put up prize money this year but took it all home with him.
I am asking the same question for next years sidecar spectacular.
Are you hinting on having the Nats in WA next year?

Another woeful effort by the sidecar brigade, who seem obsessed by shooting themselves in the foot at every opportunity they have to present a united front and give their category some credibility. Congrats are due however, to those who turned up and raced hard. Someday I hope somebody will sit down and explain to me the machinations and politics that lie behind their eternal dismal efforts at nats level.  ::)

GD66, Dismal efforts at a national level-
In 2007, the ASA held an official MA Sidecar only title. The only class to fall short for an official MA title was pre '68, the rest were a full field. Each class had 5 rounds over the 2 day event, moderns rode 15min+1 lap (15 bikes), Pre '85- 7 laps (6 bikes), Pre '75- 7 laps (15 bikes), Pre '68- 5 laps (4 bikes), Juniours- 5 laps (10 bikes)the track was suitable for all classes and, track held up great all weekend. Since then, the ASA has ran its own titles with equal success. Many sidecar teams race in more than 1 class, so it is essential to have all classes at 1 meeting. Without the ASA having meetings like the '07 title, there is no MA title for the moderns or juniours. I believe this gave our category and the ASA a LOT of credibility, but for some reason we have not been able to hold an MA title since, hence why the majority of sidecar teams who want to race in a title come to the ASA national title, not the MA title. 3x3lap races is no way to sort the men out from the boys, over the duration of 5 or so laps, it doesnt matter who gets the holeshot, the fastest team on the track will cross the line first.

I hope this has shed some light on us 'Shooting ourselves in the foot at every opportunity'

     Regards, OZSIDECARX

Could I ask how long did it take to do one lap in 2007 at the MA sanctioned event?

These side-car people are their own worst enemies I think. It's a pity they don't seem to get on. It'd be great to see them out there again... :-\

We are out there, in good numbers, you may just be going to the wrong race meetings.
