They're Coming out of the Woodwork.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MONTESSA-ENDURO-250-1979-MOTORBIKE-TRAIL-BIKE-VINTAGE_W0QQitemZ150416498378QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Motorcycles?hash=item2305859eca

It amazes me how many Monties there are out there. As a percentage of bikes sold more Monties musta survived than any other brand :o 8).

It also surprise me how many, and seemingly random, variation and mutations of the basic enduro design there were. This one is claimed as a'79. I thought the VB based H7 would have been the current model by then. The frame is interesting - looks like the VR single down tube with forward mounted shocks - two top mounts but different to the earlier model, go figure.

(Oh, and tell him he's dreaming  ::) ;D. A $1000 (reserve not meet :P) for a bike thats needs a little more then TLC to get presentable.)

Gday Walter, I think that was the Bultaco 1975 Mk 8.

p.s. do you remember the night your cousin told me to put my money where my mouth was and you had to lend me an SR500 engined Wasp to race the current world Champion with?????

Stan , YES it was a Bultaco . A blue and white one sticks to my mind .

Regarding the SR in the Wasp , when and where  did deal go down ?  I would be interested to know , it may trigger some memories .

It would have been about 1984 Ballarat Rovers club rooms about 3am after lots of beer and I would have thought not too many years after your Jag had an altercation with some trees.

You did say recently that we should have improved our corner speed by now. As Neil Crompton the commentator that day said "I will just turn the page on the calendar and get a lap time on the 2 guys riding Walters bike."

Now the penny dropped , you are the man that sold me the IT 175 , my first bike in australia . Are you still a member of the Rovers ?
I might consider stirring up the pot at a club meeting underway to Broadford . Still Thursday nights ?

Quite possibly but I can't remember that. But how many people have excepted a challenge from Emil Bollhalder ( 1984 World Sidecar Champion) at 3am to race him?
Anyway Walter we hope to catch up soon.

Just as well you still had a sense of humour Walter  :D :D :D

Hey Graeme sorry for hijacking your thread. I think they must be joking about the reserve price of the Monty.

There's a bid at $1000 which surprises me ::). If it's got a good strong motor a $1000 might be reasonable but I wouldn't be bidding unless I knew ;). But anyway appreciating prices is good for all of us who have a garage full of old shite ;D.
