Question , If you had a noisy gear box and leaks oil.  What would you do to fix it on the cheap.

Pull it apart and replace the stuffed bits with cheap NOS parts found on ebay.

Or if its clutch is separate to the gear box then fill gear box with Penrite semi fluid grease or 50/50 semi fluid grease and 50 weight engine oil, just like the old pommy clunkers use to have.

If it was mine i would go with the first suggestion.

Just put this out there to see if it was any of your handy work  :)

Had a spare day up my sleeve as I'm waiting for parts again ....US postage is a bit slow of late, So proceeded to pull a few motors down to see what the internals where like  ::)
This one in particular I removed the oil drain plug and found grease WTF going on here ( this will be interesing )
And this is what I found inside  :o   1 and a 1/2 tubes of grease. Must have pumped it up thru oil drain hole.  To my amazement there was no spline or gear damge apart from a burn mark on a seletor.

OK who owned this before me -----TM 250 1973 motor.
Mainline,  your safe there was no saw dust to be found ;)

Top of picture is 1 half of case with gears still in place , bottom is other side. When pull apart it some ended up on crank.
