Reply to Freaky,

This was a very special one of a kind bike. I built this machine when I was in the UK riding speedway. It used the same geometry diamond as my speedway bike only using slightly heavier tube. The engine was a short stroke JAP 500cc. The suspension rear end was my design, the rear wheel was a double sided speedway hub with a disc that I manufactured. The caliper was a Hagon mechanical operated unit. The gearbox was an AMC box modified from 4 speed to 2 speed, only using 3rd and 4th with a neutral between them. The whole design of the bike was to keep the wheel base short and set it up with handlebars, foot rests, seat, etc. in similar positions as my speedway bikes. As I was riding 1 - 2 speedway meetings each week it was important to try to make the bikes the same handling. A chap named Keith Stevenson in the UK used to manufacture speedway frames, he  was a good friend of mine and let me use his workshop to develop this bike. I would love to know where it is now. A  chap from Taree purchased it from me, Chris Clark now deceased.
regards...Don

G'day Don,

interesting machine, the Jap engine looks to be tilted very rearward, was this to squeeze the g/box into the diamond?

No not tilted. The gearbox was shoved forward as far as possible to keep the bikes wheelbase short. Primary drive chain only had half link adjustments.

if you look very closely in the bottom photo you will see the forward mounted left footrest just in front of the primary chain guard. Just slightly above is the brake pedal pivoting off the footrest. Set up this way , again to replicate the footrest position of my speedway bikes.

Nah why would i, as usless as they are i have no reason to change out the airhearts, its just interesting some folks continue to think disk didnt happen to the 80's well the airhearts where on in 72 and now we see our own with em in 74 so they were everywhere, just not on the showroom floor.   I was just curious as to how it worked and what it was based on.

I'm pretty sure the Americans used the Lockhart kart hydraulic brake caliper in the late '60's/early '70's. I would have research it to be sure.

OK , that worked so here we go with the entries, 180 riders I think,  seven heats of the B grade Unlimited, 18 riders a heat , only first 2 to the semis.
