Old stuff
« on: January 18, 2010, 11:26:47 am »
I raided my old bedroom at mums on the weekend and found these.

I would cut out these out and stick them on my bed head or wall.
I dont know if this was from Elizibeth st M/C or Clipstone Yamaha in Ringwood.
I'm sure they were selling for $499.00 in this add.

Happens to have the weather and date on the back.

I could be wrong, but i remember this kid on the 80 being Phil Sargent???

I had heaps more brochures on PE175X's and RM125N's and YZ125's on the wall....but cannot find them.
I know i havent thrown them away so they could be in the middle of mags i hope...I'll check again another day

The one that sticks in my head is the Yamaha ad for the YZ 80 (f I think) with Bob 'Hurricane' Hannah floggin' the Begeezez out the poor little thing. The theme was "built to survive a Hurricane!". Anyone else know the one I'm talking about?

Yamaha certainly knew how sell their stuff...... ;)

Rolling chassis no more my funny red friend....... ;)
You truely are da' man KB. After I posted that I thought that it was probably an American ad and that nobody from here would remember it. Truely unbelievable!  :o
And isn't that a grouse ad? No wonder there were so many of the bloody things around at the time.
Yes KB bit the ground after keeping some local hot-shot rider at bay for about a squillion laps but the real damage was done when he caught his hand in the esky...... :D

Speaking of that great little bike, here's Pete's (Billet YZ's) YZ 80f........

The photos don`t do it justice, the thing still has the tyres on it from the factory. I was told it has done no more than a couple of hours of riding in it`s whole life, came with the reciept and original manual.

Where was I when this thread was happening  :-\

That 80/100H brochure is awesome.  Any chance a scan or something ?

I can trade for a 125/250/465H Brochure scan if you want
