It's contained in a sand blasting pressure vessel. You can't re-use it as you would in a bead blasting cabinet, so yes, you just point and shoot. The soda breaks down when it hits whatever you are blasting, so it couldn't be re-used regardless.

Freaky, I've soda blast some of my frames outside on me lawn . As Yamaico has stated 25 kg will go a long way ( 2 frames easily )
To answer and earlier question by "motomaniac " there is no need to spray a protective coating on after its been "vapour blasted "
When there is a need for clear coating over, I use outboard clear acrylic ...by K&H

I'm not sure what oldfart uses but mine is a pressure sandblaster
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-10-GALLON-HIGH-PRESSURE-SANDBLASTER-ACCESSORIES_W0QQitemZ180430313891QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Air_Tools?hash=item2a027c19a3
with a soda conversion kit
http://www.eastwood.com/soda-blasting/pressure-blaster-conversion-kits/soda-blasting-retro-fit-kit.html
Very easy to assemble and get running.
