Anybody know these riders at Ravenswood early 70's

The chain broke during the race and Ace had to push it back to the car, discussed he got rid of it not long after.I always get eh and ej models mixed up.I think the green Monaro belonged to a Friend from Ballarat by the name of Kevin McKay and I think it was a Bathurst model GTS with the 350 Chevy motor in it stock from factory.He had it on blocks in his shed for about ten years after driving it for about 5 years and sold it for a fortune

Great stuff Hardex. Sorry I can't identify any of the riders but it's refreshing to see that the overall character of great tracks doesn't change much. The layout may vary a little but Ravo and Barrabool still look the same. I've got a soft spot for Ravenswood and those photos, especially the pit shot could have been taken 4 years, not 4 decades ago.
What's the story on the Ducati you're sitting on Hardex? It appears to be a 250 NC Scrambler, the same engine I'm using in my Hindall. Where's the chain?  They were slow heavy old things much in need of a hot up and a lighter frame.....by the way, the station wagon is an EJ, not an EH. I love the period 6'' widies . The vinyl roof on the HG Monaro wasn't a good look eh? You can bet that if the car still exists, the vinyl won't be there. I notice another Monaro, a green HT GTS in the background behind the EJ wagon.

Hey Firko,back in the day those Vinyl roofs were the "GO" I can remember going to Ravenswood as a kid and they used to have the creek crossings and guys would stand on the bank of the creek with ropes and hookes attached to pull riders up the bank,I actually had my first open meeting there as a Sub Junior on a 125 Husky in about 74,I was as nervous as hell,Great photo's and 2 great tracks,quite possibly 2 of the oldest still being used I would guess,

TonyT I'm not sure exactly where the track was but I do remember it was near Mt Gambier sorry.
Gator these tracks are what us old guys raced on back then and that's why I and a lot guys around my age get a little upset when our 50 years old aching bodies have to race our 4 inch of travel 35 year old bike on tracks that have jumps in them that could kill us and the bike and that's why I'm a big fan of the Classic Scramble club .The tracks are easy to ride with little or no jumps and mostly run in farmers paddocks like the old days.Enough of my winging I just love the sport and want to continue racing as long as Brian Clark has that's all.

No worries. It's not Mac Park, so I reckon it is Buck's Hill just south of Mt. Gambier.
I'd never seen racing there but have heard other blokes talk about motocross races there. I reckon it would have been in the 60's when they stopped using that track.
Nearly bought a Velocette one day that won the states championship at that track............... wish I did................

.Enough of my winging I just love the sport and want to continue racing as long as Brian Clark has that's all.

I intend to, 32 down only 18 to go. ( might have to give up crashing in desert races though, don't bounce like I used to)

I remember being dragged all the way down there by my dad when I was about 10 years old so that he could go racing.  It may have been a State Championship   I thought the track was close to the town, and in one of the craters
