Started out racing on a MR50 in 1978. Haven't got the original one now but have managed to pick up a couple in the last few years.
Most of my mates, now in there 40's have a real soft spot for them  ;D

First raced an SL70 had problems ,gearbox sticking and frame breaking. Not a great race bike. Then a race dax (chocolate brown) sl forks and konis ,22mm carb and manifold,90cc inlet valve & ported and fury straight out what a beast .Wish I still had that one.

My first bike was a '72 SL70. I got a '73 XR75 for my 10th birthday the next year. Great bikes. I got nostalgic and have picked up a couple of XR's in the last few years. The 78 is done but I need to finish restoring the '73.

My first was a Z50 (minitrail). Man was it harsh to jump with the ridged rear end. Still got my XR 80.

Never owned any of them, but did a lot of miles on a really ratty SL70, and a Z50. Bit of time on an XR75K0 too, now that I think of it.

I'd love to own that particular SL now, but I'm pretty sure that it got burnt in late 2001.

SL 70 bought from a mate for $260. My old man made me save up $100 towards so I would appreciate and look after it.  He also did'nt think I would do it and thats what he told mum to keep her quiet.$5 / week doing a paper round (? child labour) 20 weeks later I slapped my hard earned in the old mans hand. The next day she was mine. Rode the wheels off it for 12 months including my first race at the old Box hill gasworks (got a second and won a pair of goggles). Eventually traded on a Suzuki Honcho followed by a TM125 and then an Ossa Phantom followed funnily enough by multiple shoulder dislocations, surgery, girlfriend (now wife) and 35 year retirement but now I'm back......

I had a purple XR75(74) with a Bassani pipe and a straight chromed inlet manifold -(wow). I remember swapping the Bassani for a J&R muffler and a set of Mulholland shocks- not my best trade! Rode a couple of Kwaka 75's with the ape-hanger bars and loved the look of the little elsinore 50. A kid with a YZ80C wanted the XR badly and it is the best swap I ever did.(The XR was modified and never ran for long without something going wrong). Mike Warner spotted the bike when it was in his shop at Revesby and said it had placed at the Junior Dirt Track Titles. That was one fast 80.
