Tyre problem
« on: August 14, 2009, 09:36:39 pm »
Ok i have having real trouble finding some universal block pattern trials/trail tyres to suit a XT/TT500.

i need preferably a matching pair of 300 x 21 and 450 x 18.

The 300x21 isnt too much of a problem, but the 450 is.

i dont want high performance radial construction/soft compound competition trials/speedway tyres, just after the more cheaper chengshin/Yokahama type trail tyres suitable for trail riding on bitument/dirt roads.

I contacted the chengshin importer and they listed 450x 18 in their 09 catalogue but they dont have any and said CS stopped making them and only make 400's now.

kenda importer did have them but now no longer made.

prefer in australia but may consider overseas purchase.

i have looked at Australian importers of these brands

Kings
kenda
Dunlop
michellin
metzeller
IRC
vee rubber
pirelli
Heidenau
Maxis
cheng shin
shinko

What other brands can i try?

In trials universals 450 x 18 is very unusual. As an ex-Dunlop Distributor & industry employee I can safely say your up against it. However, when and if you do find one tell me because I've got an XT500 also and might get one too. Good Luck buddy
