Bridgestone rear tyre thoughts for grasstrack?
« on: July 02, 2009, 07:55:47 pm »
Oh no, the old tyre questions again!
We mainly run on grasstracks down here, and they get mighty slippery when wet.
The old XL250 is running Bridgestone tyres - 201 on the front and 602 at the back. The front is excellent, doesn't matter what you do, it just stays stuck and tracking where you want, even as the track dries out nothing changes....so I'm happy with that.
The rear is the problem child?? with the track wet and greasy the rear end just skates every where but where you want. As the track dries it is much better. I've tried dropping to 8psi on the slippery stuff and it helps marginally.
So anyway to the question....the shop has suggested going to the 404 (softer) rear as a fix.
Any ideas as to the gains likely to be achieved in this? is it likely to make THAT much difference? Had a search through the forum and the only other ideas I can find are maybe another brand.....S12 or Kenda Millsville?
