Gone up a bit since the last time it was offered. It'd be nice to have though.
Cheers,

Tell em he's dreamimg son!  One sold for US$1900 recently on eBay so makes $10.5k seem a bit steep.  They do come up now and again.  Nice though all the same.

I have communicated with this vendor and my view is that it is not properly race ready either. From memory, it is a US import, so the bike has no Australian Period Race History or Australian History of any significance. I doubt that it has been ridden in Australia to any level at all and certainly it would not have period Australian race history or serious use in "Anger" in the hands of one of the great steerers of the era. To command the quantum of price asked, this is what it ought to have, or in the alternative, a successful and documented race winning European competition history and not be a little known "fly in" from the US.

Interesting I don't remember having a conversation with you even though some of what you say is correct, I pose this question to you, How do you get "history" without damaging the bike? This bike is being sold as unrestored "barely used" anyone can grab a chip of paint & build a bike around it & claim history because the chip of paint once had significant background. If that history was to be retained they would certainly not be restored but presented as they were when they were last pushed off the track. For instance if you were to be offered a period works bike I would be terribly disapointed if the tank had been repainted to remove the obvious torture marks from racing, But everyone has there own opinion. Anyway fear not the bike has a pending sale if it does not sell at auction.
P.S. What about all the import Maico's selling in excess of $12000.00.       Each to his own!

There you go what a bargin, at least now there will be something for him to gauge off,as I said I have sale pending. Some things are only valued by what someone is willing to pay.

Lets face it if you want something different you have to pay for it. I bought my silver bullet for a little less than the one in Canberra and then through thousands at it and I still havent finished. The Canberra bike has had money throwen at it also so 10.5K for an original bike is a good buy. I was contacted years ago by someone wanting to ship a 82.5 500 from the states and I am sure this is the bike. It sold for more than 1900.00 US who knows what condition the Ebay US bike is in. My bike isnt original of course and who knows what history it had but if the CR 500 sells for 10.5 I'll be happy. Have a look at the prices a dealer in Brisvegas is selling old huskies for on the trading post and you'll be on the money for this bike. How much do you think a 67 360 is worth, about 12 to 15k, if you really want it. Or a mag 250 I'd pay 4K but they are worth probably 6 if you really want it.

These prices are in the main only asking prices. Most of us are here because we love these type of bikes, not because we want to make money out of them. These type of prices and associated speculators put these bikes out of reach of a lot of skilled riders and that is a pity. Would it not be a pity to see only wealthy punters riding these bikes in competition, or not to see these bikes used in "anger" because they are too valuable? Surely the quality of competition and VMX in general would suffer.

Have you ever contemplated the thought that the colector you describe is who I'm selling to, if you read between the lines you'll notice that I'm willing to trade for bikes that are to be ridden not looked at. Forgive me for not understanding your angle but your coming across as sour grapes (maybe just because its out of your reach), I would have thought that visiting a marque specific site it would be veiwed by enthusiasts people who appreciate items from the era not critics. As far as the guy's who spend a fortune on bike's because they can, well your never going to stop that their in everything from model planes to semi trailer's. I just happen to be skint at the moment like everyone else in the country & don't worry if I could sell somthing else instead I would, The greatest regret I have is that it has sold off e-bay & I feel like I've sold one of my childeren "will I get over it I don't know" but you should get over it you've lost nothing.
