Hi guys

I am new to the forum and was hoping that that some of you may be able to assist with some questions.

In the late 70's I rode a VA250 and have only now got the bug to buy another monty. To satisfy this urge I purchased a 1978 H6 stripped down in Cappra trim with a Cappra tank. I have been into enduro bikes for a couple of years after a loong brake. Of course these have been 4 stroke (husky 510s) and I have have no idea on 2 stroke oil and ratio.

What engine oil is recommened for this type of bike? Ratio? Synthetic? (the bike is on a fresh bore and piston)

Can I run ULP? low or high octane rating?

The spacers on the rear wheel are not the correct size. Diameter is correct but the wheel slides  side to side 10mm or so. Does anyone have a H6 or simialr era Cappra that can tell be the size/length of the left and right spacer?

What oil/weight and volumne for the gearbox?

Just curious, The VA had a ball bearing that was pushed up/down in plastic casing which was the fuel tap. What was the last model to use this type of tap?

i just run synthetic motul 30 to 1
in my monties
bp ultimate which is 98 octane is fine
i run a motul 2 stroke gearbox oil in gearbox and atf in clutch
thats if yours is seperate

Those ball-bearing fuel taps are as rare as hens teeth and usually go for about 200 bucks a throw on ebay. I think they may have been the last model to have them (VA). Combine them with a dickie needle/seat and you'de have hours of fun trying to start a bike with crank-case full of fuel. They weren't the hot ticket.
Fuel/oil ratios/types have been thrashed out on here a number of times so it's probably down to what you're comfortable with. Myself I use....
Shell Racing M at 25:1 with BP 98 oct and Silkolene oct booster at 2% (100 ml in 5 lts of fuel)
Fuchs 80/90 wt gear oil in the transmission. 500 ml in my later Monties
ATF in the clutch. 300 ml as it says on the cover :)

Thanks for the info guys!! I will get it out and about once I sought out the rear wheel spacer issue.

.....arghhhh before I change the fluid in the clutch I had better confirm my suspicsions!! ATF is Auto transmission Fluid??????

When ATF is suggested they are referring to basic old ATF not the new super dooper stuff installed for life in some of the new super 6-7 speed and more electronic everything space age transmissions as many of those fluids have additives that may not be ideal for your Monty. Old style ATF for a 70's / 80's Borg Warner 3 spped tranny is ideal and cheap. Or at least that's what I have used for the last decades without problems. Maybe I'm just cheap ;D
