Talking about hybrids, this is one that I am thinking of building. It also answers your question, because the aircooled 430 top end fits straight on to the watercooled 430 bottom end . It is an '86 Husky 430 automatic bottom end (I love Husky autos by the way) , with an aircooled 430 top end , in a '79 Maico Magnum frame (arguably the best handling of all Maico frames). The only stumbling point is that the 430 aircooled top end has a side exiting exhaust port & the Maico frame suits a centre exit exhaust. If I use the watercooled 430 top end (which has a centre exit exhaust), I then have to fit a radiator somewhere. The watercooled option also makes it ineligible for the vintage pony express class that I want to race it in, which requires an aircooled, drum braked bike. If I modify the aircooled cylinder to a centre exit exhaust, I will probably still keep the water pump to try to push the transmission oil through an XR250 Honda style oil cooler (as Husky autos can get very hot, because of the friction from the slipping clutches & lose power).
The Husky motor is sitting up a bit high in the picture , because the back Maico engine mounts need to be trimmed off. If I go ahead with this project, I will carefully take off these mounts in case I ever want to put an original Maico motor back in the frame .
