Yep they're both mine, and it's getting there very slowly. Somehow all these other projects keep ending up in my garage and jump the queue...

Cheers,
Mark.

I know what you mean. Something new comes along so you get all excited and start restoring it. Tell me, how do you get the crankcases so clean. Do you bead blast or are they painted?

Mark,
The '72 photo is one scary looking bike! But the resto looks brilliant.
Question? Where do you get aftermarket trials guards? I have several TY's and TL's that I am trying to do up , but I can't find anyone who sells these type of guards.

Hi lads,

Brad, the crankcases are painted, which is the way they came from the factory originally.

And the mudguards are easy to get through my Bultaco suppliers.

Peter Schoene at Bultaco Parts has them http://www.users.bigpond.com/bultaco.oz/

And Don Newell also has them http://www.newellmotorcycles.com.au/bultaco.htm

Either of those guys should be able to sort you out.

Cheers,
Mark.

Mark,
Thanks for the info on the guards.
What paint do you use on the motors so that it does'nt look like spray chrome or come out the same as the frame??

                   Regards
                          Roger

I used heat proof silver paint with a clear coating. I haven't started the motor yet, so I'm not sure if it will stay on, but it should be ok.
Cheers,
Mark.
